Sashs - please don't bring up "Smirnoff" subject here again. Subject doesn't deserve more time. Not worth it. Thank you very much.
Forsaken:
I have been a part of this community for almost 3 years now and have run a legit server for most of that time. I have brought some US players back to the game, and been a help to the community as much as I could/can which is why I have this question: What exactly are the requirements for becoming an official server?
I have seen servers come and go run by private individuals that have been official after being up for about a month. I asked at one time how to become official, but it seems the 'official' label has no meaning if its not offered to someone who has been hosting a legit server for as long as I have.
Thoughts?

Let's see what Freebo has to say.
Yes Forsaken we all know you and your contribution to promo of the network in USA section for last 2 years at least. Respect for that because Time Zones are huge problem for European Admins to be on-line for USA players - when we have 8 hours time difference and when they start to play it's already 2AM or 3AM in Europe. So your contribution means a lot. Especially if you can be on-line more often than once a week.
Well The rules of Official servers are here for 3 years at the bottom.
Nothing has changed:

All is about admins really. Not letting insults and hate spread on Official servers - making sure good atmosphere is there always.
Why admin has to be "trusted"? It's very simple - because untrusted admin can mess with heads of players (who don't know Crysis yet - give them fake info instead of helping to use proper guns or something), he can mess with statistics and after making his server Ranked - he can fake stats and for example make him get more points - or he can even use cheats (only admin knows what is detected on his server and what is not - so he can do it if he is an ahole) on his own server.
This is why there are
only 2 servers of users marked as Official now. One is
DarkAngel's - who had server for
over 2 years before he received Official one - and he was always fair there. Second is
misterSD's who was checked moderator for around 2 years, was reporting problems with players - and also worked alone on his server for months and had 24/7 server for a while before receiving Official one. Nobody receives official after 1 week of having 24/7 server.
So Forsaken if you can for test run again your server for - let's
say just 8 weeks - and people would check it out, test everything, see how it's working you can receive Official one.
That hacking period from the history ? Comrade had some links to videos about it 2 years ago - you remember the case - and our discussion 2 years ago on early Mesa Nostalgia. It's a past now. So doesn't matter. But it would be nice of you to have your server running for around 8 weeks - and If people say everything is fine there (like it seems now) - it can be marked as official one without any problem.
Remember that having official one is not something everybody need. Because responsibility comes with it - Official -
means any new or old player can go there and can be sure that he won't get hate or insults there. It means that
hackers will be kicked and banned right after spotting them - and that means anybody would be able to play without fear of those crazy thinks to happen there - He would be able to
play without leaving with anger (unless they loose in fair-play fight). This is the problem we had on official servers before - also on Mesa Nostalgia - I have to admit sometimes - because we were allowing insulting. Which will never happen again on official servers starting from spring.
This is why I'm not sure that official server is always comfortable for admins to have - it's a pain in the.... neck. But if you really want to have one....
Remember also that if crazy things start to happen, agains the rules Official can become private again. Which is not a proble. Private servers are sometimes even better - all depends of the atmosphere, interesting things there and admins.
Official - means fair - If admin starts to do crazy things and people see that - and make video about him. Even misterSD would lose official server - and he knows it. Even I can lose it if somebody can show video where I overuse admin commands to win with players in fight or something like that. It has to be fair on those servers. Just simple rule.
One thing which would be important for the network on your server is that we have no official servers in USA area - so ping for us can be a little problem - but if you can thanks to this official server bring some players from States - it makes sense to have it official.
But you have to think about it. Even I don't make some of my servers private type (like my Crazy Truths were and will be private always) to have more freedom of things there and not connect it clearly with the network. Which doesn't mean insults or hacking is allowed there. But more private character sometimes is better.
So think about it. Official is not a "must" thing. But if you see the reason for it. Not a problem. Put your server on for 8 weeks - 24/7 and we will check it - and make it trusted official.
Thanks and good luck.
